Video: Inside the NFL Concussion Case

Watch lawyers, scholars, and a federal judge discuss the thorny issues involved in settling the high-profile class action filed by former players against the pro football league. John C. Coffee, Jr., the Adolf A. Berle Professor of Law at Columbia Law School, organized and moderated a panel that included: Lee H. Rosenthal, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court in the Southern District of Texas; Elizabeth Cabraser, name partner at Lieff, Cabraser, Heimann & Bernstein LLP; Samuel Issacharoff, the Bonnie & Richard Reiss Professor of Constitutional Law at New York University Law School; Brad S. Karp, chairman of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP; Robert H. Klonoff, the Jordan D. Schnitzer Professor of Law and Former Dean at Lewis & Clark Law School; and Chris Seeger, founding partner at Seeger Weiss LLP. In addition, Alan B. Morrison, the Lerner Family Associate Dean for Public Interest & Public Service at the George Washington University Law School, summarized the views of objectors to the settlement. The panel was part of a day-long program on March 2, 2018, examining former U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Richard Posner’s impact on class action jurisprudence. Professor Coffee and Professor Klonoff co-chaired the program.
